Sergio Valentin – CEO & President, Chairman of the Board of Directors

Sergio Valentin joined MFP Franchise Systems, Inc. in 2009 with a passion, vision, and a clear strategy to grow the brand. He has since then taken ownership of the franchise as well as President and CEO of the company. With over 30 years of business and operations management experience, Sergio is an advocate of local entrepreneurship. Some of his previous roles include Director of Operations at Le Petit Bistro (80 +units) and Latin Grille where he specialized in multi-unit operations, brand & menu development, and franchise consulting. Sergio also served as a Franchise Business Consultant for RGB and its affiliates; Hartsfield Hospitality, Bistro PA Ventures, Bear Rock Café, and Delaware North Companies where he was a key operator in opening the first Michigan Airport location. He has served with board members of Alvarez & Marsalis in the restructuring and reorganizing of LPB Ventures.

Sergio Valentin is an honors graduate from the Morse School of Business with his studies in Business Administration and has a Certification in Ministerial Theology with A/G. He has served as Director of the Youth Music Programs and Music Minister, as well as director & organizer at various community outreach programs.

Jay Bandy – Partner

Jay has built a broad foundation of expertise in the restaurant industry of over 30 years. During his corporate days, Jay worked with several QSR companies. He worked with BLIMPIE during their growth years, helping take the chain from 100 to 2000 units. In addition, he worked with McDonald’s Corporation in a regional leadership position and oversaw the implementation of new initiatives including McCafé into 650 restaurants in the southeast. At My Friend’s Place Deli, Jay oversees new restaurant development and brand strategy.

Jay has a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Louisville and earned a CFM certification from the International Food Service Executives Association. He is also a graduate of McDonald’s Hamburger University. Currently, he is serving on the board of directors of the Georgia Restaurant Association and a member of the Foodservice Consultants Society International. He is also the owner of Goliath Consulting Group and Goliath Restaurant Management that are based in Norcross, GA.

Reggie Coachman – Vice President, Franchise Development

Reggie has over 35 years of experience in the restaurant industry-leading business teams in the areas of operations and training, franchise development, franchise relations, and franchise consulting. Reggie’s career spans several corporate franchise systems including Arby’s, Church’s, Schlotzsky’s and Cinnabon as vice president of brand operations. He also has experience in the airport concessions arena as a chief operating officer with Concessions International, a national company operating several proprietary and national restaurant brands. At My Friend’s Place Deli, Reggie will support franchise sales and franchise consulting services.

 

Reggie has a B.S. degree in Political Science from the University of South Florida and earned a Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) designation from the International Franchise Association. Reggie currently serves on the board of directors for the Georgia Restaurant Association. Reggie is also a partner and Chief Consulting Officer for Goliath Consulting Group based in Norcross, GA.

Colin Kopel – Operations and Training Manager

Colin’s extensive career in operational management, efficiency optimization, and leadership training keeps the focus on detail-oriented operations.  After a lifetime in the hospitality industry, he embraces a guest-first mantra and believes all strategies must focus around the customer experience. His management experience ranges from QSRs to fine dining and he crafts optimal and customized operational models for each unit.  Colin approaches management and staff training with a “manage to outcomes” philosophy recognizing and utilizing each team member’s strongest attributes to maximize the success of the business.  Colin balances training and operational strategies with analysis of store financials to maximize performance and profitability.

Clay Darden – Operations and Marketing Manager

With over 20 years in the food and beverage industry, Clay brings a multitude of skill sets and capacities. Local restaurant marketing is a key competency of his, as well as the foundation of My Friends Place marketing strategy. Additionally, Clay has worked with multi-unit clients to develop and implement training programs focused on service, operations, and hospitality. Most importantly, Clay is highly experienced in operations and management for both established and new concepts.
